Why did you initially choose to attend Morehouse?

I chose to attend Morehouse because there is no other institution in the world that has been dedicated to giving black men and educational experience for over 150 years than Morehouse College. No matter what discipline you look at, Morehouse has figured out how to optimize the potential of its students and prepare them to do exceptionally well. This kind of environment is exactly what drew me to the College.

What has kept you at Morehouse?

The accountability from my peers and professors has kept me invested in Morehouse College. I have had opportunities that I would not have been exposed to if not for Morehouse. Morehouse is a great place to grow and learn, and have a good time doing it.

Why did you choose to study Physics?

As a scientist, it is imperative to have a thorough understanding of how the natural world works. Understanding physics is fundamental in understanding the natural world, and studying it has provided me transferable skills that I know I will need in my career. Outside of my major-specific content, I am learning how to learn. This is a skill that is so valuable in any field one chooses, especially the sciences.

Outside of Physics, what have you spent time learning about?

I have invested much of my time in various aspects of music. I am a self taught guitarist and pianist, and am now beginning to teach myself the art of music production. Music theory and different techniques interest me as well, and it has quickly become one of my favorite things to learn more about.

More about Jameson’s summer at Yale:

Earning the opportunity to conduct research at Yale University School of Medicine has been a highlight of my undergraduate experience thus far. I was the only HBCU student in my cohort, and that fact gave me a sense of pride and responsibility during my time there. After my time research concluded, the directors of the program told me how excited they were to potentially get another Man of Morehouse in future cohorts. To know that I may play a tiny part in my brother’s success makes me very proud.
